Should students discuss controversial topics in classes?

Controversial topics have always been a center of debate, and in recent years, the demand for discussion on these topics has increased in the academic setting. Many students believe that discussing controversial topics in classes is necessary to develop critical thinking and encourages participation in social discussions, while others may argue that such a discussion can lead to discomfort and emotional distress. In this essay, I will explain why discussing controversial topics in classes is essential and why prohibiting such discussions in classes may do more harm than good.
